About Peter |
||
Peter Kindred studied at Kingston School of Art, where at the age of 18 he won a Royal Society of Arts Bursary in Television Design. On leaving Kingston it seemed the most interesting thing to do, was to go into television, so he joined the BBC Design Department at Television Centre, London in 1964. From 1977 - 87, Peter worked for all the major TV companies but it was in 1982 whilst working for Yorkshire TV that he was drawn to Wales. Filming a 4 part Willy Russell play around Bala and Lake Vyrnwy. The warmth of the local people and the beauty of the scenery encouraged him to come and live in Wales with a much - cherished desire to develop his painting in a landscape of perfect scale. He and his wife, Bridget, bought a large old house, Tyddyn Llan in Llandrillo in 1983 and converted it into a Country House Hotel. They became quite busy and in 1987 he gave up his TV work to concentrate on the Hotel and his painting. Peter used to run art courses at the Hotel, which he and the many regular artists who came each year, enjoyed greatly. Apart from selling his work to the guests who came from all over the world, he has had many solo exhibitions at well - known Galleries. In November 2002 they decided to sell the Hotel so that Peter could concentrate on his painting. They now live in Ruthin but also have a house in the Languedoc Region of France. Here he has a studio where he can devote his time to painting the wonderful rugged landscapes with small villages and medieval buildings found in France and Wales. |
